Major CommercePro upgrade makes it easier for B2B businesses to sell on HubSpot

CommercePro 2.0 has launched with a major upgrade designed to make it easier for B2B businesses to sell through both sales-assisted and self-service channels without splitting the customer relationship across separate systems.

The new release brings CommercePro more deeply into HubSpot's native architecture, using approved HubSpot App Objects to manage the structured commerce data CommercePro needs inside the platform. It also allows CommercePro to run from HubSpot Content Hub Professional upwards, removing the previous Content Hub Enterprise requirement.

For B2B businesses, the result is straightforward: sales teams can continue selling through HubSpot Deals, Line Items and HubSpot's quoting or CPQ functionality, while customers can place straightforward orders themselves through the CommercePro storefront and checkout.

Both purchasing paths stay connected through HubSpot.

That means the same customer can self-serve today, speak to sales tomorrow, and return to self-service next month without creating two disconnected commercial journeys underneath.

One Customer, More Ways to Buy

B2B purchasing rarely follows a single path.

A customer might log in and reorder their standard products without speaking to anyone. The following week, that same customer may need a larger order with negotiated pricing, product configuration or formal approval, making direct involvement from their salesperson the better experience.

CommercePro 2.0 is built to support both.

For transactions that need sales involvement, teams continue to work inside HubSpot using the tools they already know, including:

  • HubSpot Deals
  • Line Items
  • Product records
  • HubSpot quoting and CPQ functionality where required

For purchases that do not need a salesperson, customers can use the CommercePro storefront and checkout directly through the business's website.

The important change is not simply that CommercePro supports both.

It is that they no longer need to operate as two separate commercial systems.

Sales Can Sell. Customers Can Self-Serve.

For many B2B businesses, salespeople still spend time manually processing transactions where their involvement adds very little value.

Repeat orders, replenishment purchases and straightforward product transactions can often be completed faster by the customer themselves.

CommercePro 2.0 gives those customers a self-service route while preserving sales involvement for the transactions that genuinely need it.

That means sales teams can spend more time on:

  • Complex and high-value opportunities
  • Negotiated or account-specific purchases
  • Product advice and configuration
  • New customer relationships
  • Strategic account development

At the same time, customers are not forced through a sales process when they already know exactly what they need.

Self-service is not being used to replace sales. It is being used to remove unnecessary administration from the transactions that do not need sales involvement.

HubSpot Stays at the Centre

The bigger benefit of CommercePro 2.0 is what happens behind the scenes.

Traditionally, a B2B business might run its sales process through HubSpot while operating ecommerce through another platform. That often creates two sets of commercial data that then have to be connected through integrations.

The business can end up managing:

  • Separate customer records
  • Separate product catalogues
  • Different transaction histories
  • Online orders in one platform and sales Deals in another
  • Reporting that needs to be reconciled between systems
  • Integrations that need to keep both environments in sync

CommercePro 2.0 takes a different approach.

Commerce is built around HubSpot, allowing sales-assisted and self-service activity to remain connected to the same wider CRM environment.

That gives businesses a much more coherent view of how each customer actually buys.

A More Complete View of the Customer

For sales teams, that means the customer record can tell a much richer story.

A salesperson preparing for an account review should not only be able to see the transactions they personally managed. They should also understand what the customer has been purchasing through self-service, how regularly they buy and how the overall commercial relationship is developing.

For the customer, the same principle applies.

The CommercePro customer dashboard can provide a more useful account experience because the relationship is not divided into "things bought online" and "things bought through sales."

It is one customer account.

That becomes increasingly valuable in B2B environments where the purchasing path changes depending on the transaction.

CommercePro 2.0 Now Uses HubSpot App Objects

A significant part of the CommercePro 2.0 upgrade sits underneath the visible buying experience.

CommercePro 2.0 now uses HubSpot App Objects to provide the structured commerce records the application needs inside HubSpot.

App Objects are defined and delivered by an approved HubSpot application rather than being created independently by each customer as part of their own CRM architecture.

For CommercePro, that is an important change.

Instead of requiring customers to provide and maintain parts of the CommercePro data model themselves, CommercePro can now bring more of its own application architecture into HubSpot.

This creates a number of benefits:

  • A more consistent CommercePro architecture: the core commerce data model can be managed as part of the CommercePro application rather than rebuilt independently for each implementation.
  • Less customer-side configuration: businesses do not need to create the same underlying application structures themselves.
  • Closer alignment with HubSpot: commerce records can participate within the HubSpot environment rather than existing primarily in an external ecommerce platform.
  • A platform CommercePro can evolve: changes to the CommercePro data model can be managed as part of the product itself.
  • Lower baseline HubSpot requirements: CommercePro 2.0 can now run from Content Hub Professional upwards rather than requiring Content Hub Enterprise.

The move to App Objects is therefore more than a developer change. It directly affects how CommercePro can be implemented, maintained and licensed.

CommercePro No Longer Requires Content Hub Enterprise

Previous versions of CommercePro required HubSpot Content Hub Enterprise.

CommercePro 2.0 changes that.

The new architecture means CommercePro is now available to businesses running HubSpot Content Hub Professional or above.

This is particularly significant for businesses that previously liked the CommercePro model but did not otherwise need Enterprise functionality across their HubSpot environment.

They no longer need to take on an Enterprise subscription simply because they want CommercePro.

Businesses that already need Enterprise for other HubSpot functionality can, of course, continue to use it. The difference is that CommercePro itself no longer dictates that decision.

Fewer Systems Between the Customer and the Sale

The aim of CommercePro 2.0 is not to create another ecommerce platform that happens to integrate with HubSpot.

It is to let businesses do more of their commerce around the CRM that already holds the customer relationship.

That becomes particularly powerful in B2B, where the line between ecommerce and sales is rarely clean.

A customer can place a routine order themselves today.

Sales can manage a more complex transaction tomorrow.

The customer can return to self-service after that.

HubSpot remains the common thread between those interactions, connecting the customer, the products, the Deals, the reporting and the ongoing account experience.

CommercePro 2.0 makes that architecture easier to implement, easier to maintain and available to more HubSpot customers than before.

CommercePro 2.0 Is Available Now

CommercePro 2.0 is now available for businesses using HubSpot Content Hub Professional and above.

The upgrade brings together B2B self-service commerce, sales-assisted purchasing, HubSpot's CRM and a new App Object-based architecture designed to make CommercePro more native to the HubSpot platform.

For businesses that want customers to buy in more than one way without building multiple commercial systems underneath them, that is the real upgrade.

More ways to buy. Less architecture in the way.
