A new customer asks for a quote. Your rep builds it in HubSpot, adds the line items, applies a volume discount, gets it approved and sends it. The customer signs. Deal closed won.

Three weeks later, the same customer needs more stock. They do not want a quote this time. They want to order the same thing again, at the price they already agreed. So they email a PDF.

And the process that worked so well for the first sale falls apart on the second.

This is the gap most B2B sellers on HubSpot run into. The quote is treated as the whole commercial relationship, when really it is only the first transaction. Everything after it, the reorders, the top-ups, the renewals, happens somewhere else, usually in someone's inbox.

We see this pattern in the enquiries we get. Many of them start with "we need a quote feature." Look closer and the real need is wider: a way for customers to keep buying without the sales team in the middle of every order.

**For sales and operations leaders at established B2B businesses running HubSpot, whose customers still order by phone, email or PDF.**

## Why "We Need Quoting in HubSpot" Is Usually the Wrong Brief

Asking for a quote tool makes sense. Quotes are where B2B revenue starts, and they are often still built in spreadsheets or Word templates outside the CRM.

But quoting is a sales motion. It suits first purchases, custom configurations and negotiated pricing. It does not suit a customer reordering forty units of a part they have bought six times before.

When quoting is the only tool you have, every purchase becomes a sales task:

- **Reps become order processors.** Time that should go to new business goes to re-quoting existing customers.
- **Customers wait.** A reorder that could take two minutes online takes a day because someone has to build and send a quote.
- **Pricing drifts.** Agreed prices live in old quotes, so each new one is a chance to get it wrong.
- **The record goes quiet.** Orders that bypass HubSpot leave the CRM showing a relationship that looks inactive when the customer is actually buying every month.

The better brief is not "add quoting." It is "connect the quote to everything that comes after it."

## What HubSpot CPQ Now Handles Natively

HubSpot's quoting has come a long way. With Commerce Hub now rebranded as Revenue Hub, [HubSpot CPQ](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/cpq/understand-hubspot-cpq) covers a lot of what B2B sellers used to buy separate tools for:

- A branded quote editor built from deal and line item data, with templates to standardise terms and payment options
- Product library pricing, including flat-rate, stair-step and tiered pricing, plus price books for regional pricing
- Standard and advanced approvals, with workflows triggered by quote properties such as discount or term length
- E-signature, click-to-accept and countersigning
- Online payment through HubSpot Payments or Stripe, plus invoices and subscriptions for ongoing billing

Some of this depends on your tier. HubSpot's documentation lists CPQ with Revenue Hub Professional and Enterprise, with advanced approvals on Enterprise and a Revenue Hub seat needed to create or edit quotes.

## Where HubSpot CPQ stops and B2B eCommerce begins

CPQ is built around the deal. A rep creates the quote, the buyer accepts it, the deal closes.

What CPQ is not designed to be is the place your customers go to buy on their own. There is no storefront for browsing your catalogue, no cart for a customer to build a reorder, and no portal for them to see what they bought last time and buy it again.

That is the job of e-commerce. And for B2B sellers it looks quite different from consumer retail:

- **Repeat ordering** matters more than discovery.
- **Account context** matters: the same product can have different terms for different customers.
- **Self-service portals** matter: customers want to see orders, invoices and renewals without emailing anyone.
- **Order pipelines** matter: fulfilment needs stages, ownership and visibility, just like a deal.

Most businesses solve this by adding a separate e-commerce platform and syncing it back to HubSpot. That is how you end up with two versions of every customer. We have written about [why that connector-led model breaks](https://www.engagingpartners.co/blog/unified-commerce-crm-software) as you grow.

## How HubSpot CPQ and Commerce Pro work together on one record

Commerce Pro is HubSpot-native e-commerce, designed to run alongside HubSpot CPQ rather than replace any part of it. The division of labour is simple:

- **HubSpot CPQ** handles the negotiated sale: quotes, pricing, approvals and signatures.
- **Commerce Pro** handles everything customers do on their own: browsing, ordering, checkout, reordering and managing their account through a self-service portal.
- **Both** work on the same HubSpot contact and company records.

That last point is the whole argument. Because Commerce Pro runs on HubSpot's own data model, an order placed through the store lands on the same record as the quote your rep sent three weeks earlier.

Orders move through HubSpot order pipelines. Payments run through Stripe. App cards on the record show orders and renewals next to the deals, emails and calls your team already sees.

The result is **one customer record from first quote to paid invoice, without Frankenstein e-commerce systems bolted on.**

#### What this looks like for the customer in our opening

- First purchase: the rep quotes in HubSpot CPQ, the deal is approved and signed.
- Reorder: the customer logs into the portal and orders online. No PDF, no email, no re-keying.
- Renewal: the account manager opens the company record and sees every order and renewal before the conversation starts.
- Finance: payment status sits on the same record, not in a separate tool.

Sales stays focused on new business. Customers get speed. Operations gets one source of truth. If aligning those teams is the bigger problem for you, our post on [aligning sales and finance in one CRM](https://www.engagingpartners.co/blog/how-to-align-sales-and-finance-in-one-crm) goes deeper.

## Is Commerce Pro the right fit? Signals to look for

Not every HubSpot customer needs e-commerce alongside CPQ. You probably do if:

- Existing customers reorder the same products regularly
- Orders still arrive by phone, email or PDF and get keyed in manually
- Your reps spend real time re-quoting customers who already know what they want
- You run a separate store and spend time reconciling it with HubSpot
- Account managers cannot see purchase history without asking finance

You probably do not if every sale is bespoke, negotiated and one-off. In that case, HubSpot CPQ on its own may be all you need, and we would tell you so.

Commerce Pro has also been completely rebuilt with self-implementation, so you can set up your store yourself inside HubSpot, and there is now a full free trial. We walk through the new setup in \[LINK: What Does Native E-commerce on HubSpot Actually Look Like Now?\]. If you want the background on why we built it in the first place, see [introducing Commerce Pro for HubSpot](https://www.engagingpartners.co/blog/introducing-commercepro-for-hubspot).

## The Quote Is the Start of the Relationship, Not the Whole of It

Most B2B commerce conversations start in the wrong place. Teams compare quoting tools feature by feature, when the real question is what happens after the first "yes".

HubSpot now does quoting well. Let it.

The opportunity is everything that follows: the second order, the tenth, the renewal. When those happen on the same record as the first quote, you stop running a sales process for every purchase and start running a customer relationship. That is what one record from first quote to paid invoice actually means.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Does HubSpot have native CPQ?

Yes. HubSpot CPQ is available with Revenue Hub (formerly Commerce Hub) Professional and Enterprise. It covers quote creation, product and tiered pricing, approvals, e-signature and online payments through HubSpot Payments or Stripe.

### Can HubSpot CPQ handle repeat B2B orders?

HubSpot CPQ is built around deals and quotes created by your sales team. For customers who want to reorder on their own, you need e-commerce on top, such as a store, cart and self-service portal. Commerce Pro adds this natively in HubSpot.

### Does Commerce Pro include its own CPQ?

No. Commerce Pro is designed to run alongside HubSpot CPQ. Use HubSpot CPQ for quotes and approvals, and Commerce Pro for online ordering, checkout and the customer portal.

### Will quotes and online orders appear on the same HubSpot record?

Yes. Commerce Pro runs on HubSpot's own CRM records, so online orders, payments and renewals appear on the same contact and company records as your HubSpot quotes and deals.

### Can I try Commerce Pro before buying?

Yes. Commerce Pro now offers a full free trial from the HubSpot Marketplace, with self-implementation setup included.

## Connect Your Quotes to Everything That Comes After

If your team quotes well but loses sight of the customer once the deal closes, the fix is not a better quote tool. It is putting ordering on the same record. Start a free Commerce Pro trial from the HubSpot Marketplace, or get in touch and we will look at how HubSpot CPQ and Commerce Pro would fit your sales process.
